"Birds Can Fly So High..."

I was in an obvious safari-inspired mood during this shoot, since I've been dying to travel lately. The travel bug had bit me back at a young age and never went away. I've seen many amazing places, but I'll never be fufilled! I postponed a trip to San Francisco this month to work on an NBC TV show pilot in costumes, but I'm itching to get out there as soon as I can to visit my sister and take a break from the East Coast.

We got very lucky when taking these photos, and happened upon some friendly pigeons. My favorite one was a lighter, lavender and periwinkle-shaded bird, but he or she escaped from the camera lens! I've been lazy with my hair lately, using Garnier Fructis hair mousse to create waves in my hair so I don't have to straighten, curl, or put it in an updo. It's hard to get out of my warm cozy bed early enough to do my hair, I guess, in this freezing cold wintertime we've been having in the city. Here's to spring coming as soon as it can!

Photography: Benjamin Benson

Outfit Highights: Tory Burch shirtdress, Charming Charlie felt hat, and a vintage purse from the L train thrift shops

Style Tip: Go monochromatic once in a while and see how creative you can be with your look while keeping it to one color. Bonus points if it matches your hair!

Song of the Day: "Birds" by Kate Nash
